Mesa Falls Idaho

Mesa Falls Idaho near the Yellowstone National Park boarder is an amazing place to visit year around.
Depending on the weather it may not be accessible at times during the Winter months.

Summer months are best of those that want to make sure they see the falls West of Yellowstone.

Several miles south of Mesa Falls the Idaho side of the Teton Peaks are visible.

Orofino Idaho Home of Famous Dwarshak Reservoir

Standing 717 feet high, Dworshak dam is the tallest straight axis gravity dam in the
Western Hemisphere and is the third highest.
The crest of the dam measures 3,287 feet long.

Over a 50 year period before the dam was completed in 1962 the town of Orofino flooded 38 times destroying homes, businesses, bridges and roads.

The primary construction of the dam was to control these flood waters

Part of the town of Orofino in the photo below

Dent Bridge is 1,550 feet long cable suspension bridge that spans a section of the Dwarshak Reservoir.
This beautiful bridge was finished in 1971 to allow access to the community of Elk River from the Orofino side of the Clear Water River. It was more cost affective than building a 53 mile road around the reservoir.

An amazing place for fishermen, boaters, campers and out door enthusiasts.

Jarbidge Wilderness Arguably The Most Remote in Lower 48

Barely situated in Nevada along the Idaho & Nevada boarder Jarbidge is arguably one of the most remote little dirt road towns in the lower 48.

55 miles from Wildhorse Reservoir this remote town sits in the second largest wilderness area of Nevada. Jarbidge Wilderness area is over 110,000 acres & is the least accessible wilderness areas in Nevada.

Shoshone Indian Tribe called the this wilderness Tsawhawbitts meaning Cannibal Giants warning pioneers & travelers to avoid this area as they do.

After the discovery of gold this area was settled then named Jarbidge.

No longer producing gold as it once did the small dirt road town of around 100 occupants dwindles to around 30 during winter.

Recreationalists such as fishermen, hunters, hikers, campers & ATV enthusiasts help keep this small town alive with their tourism.

 Wild, remote & beautiful.
